كُلُّ نَفۡسࣲ ذَاۤىٕقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۗ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوۡنَ أُجُورَكُمۡ یَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِۖ فَمَن زُحۡزِحَ عَنِ ٱلنَّارِ وَأُدۡخِلَ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ فَقَدۡ فَازَۗ وَمَا ٱلۡحَیَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنۡیَاۤ إِلَّا مَتَـٰعُ ٱلۡغُرُورِ
"Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing)."
[Surah Āl-Imrān: 185]
Shaykh Muhammad bin Sālih Al-Uthaymīnرحمه الله said:
"From the benefits of this Āyah:
It is obligatory upon one to be cautious of the evil result of the worldy life, and its deception, as it has been authentically narrated that the Messenger (ﷺ) said:
وَاللهِ مَا الْفَقْرَ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكُمْ، وَإِنَّمَا أَخْشَى أَنْ تُفْتَحَ الدُّنْيَا عَلَيْكُمْ فَتَتَنَافَسُوهَا كَمَا تَنَافَسَهَا مَنْ قَبْلَكُمْ فَتُهْلِكَكُمْ كَمَا أَهْلَكَتْهُمْ
"By Allāh, I do not fear poverty for you, but I fear that the worldly life will be opened up to you and as a result you will compete for it, just as those that came before you competed for it, and thus it will destroy you as it destroyed them."
